New Rules for 2009-2010 Season
There are some changes to the rules as we know them for the coming season. Within the Downloads section of the website is a detailed briefing of the new FIH rules which has been used at international competitions all summer. Delegates from the club will also be attending a session geared at both players and umpires next week 9th Sept, and will then present to club members on how those new rules impact us. As always, keep an eye on the website, and a close ear to your captain, who will fill you in closer to the date.

Naas M2 Secure 1st win of 2009
Naas produced their performance of the season in what was a day of firsts for the Men's Seconds. Three Players scored their first goal for the club. Naas began brightly with some good movement between forwards Justin Smal and Marcos Blake. In the midfield Tony Falvey, Paddy Smeele, Jamie Coyle and Darren Harty were causing the Bray defence all sorts of problems. Jamie Coyle linked up well with Marcos Blake to win the sides first short corner. From the resulting short corner, Paddy Smeele scored a fantastic shot into the bottom corner. Less than 120 seconds after the restart Naas doubled their lead when Marcus Blake passed flat across the Bray goal which Wes Mahon swept in. The home side came right back at Naas but were unable to get the ball past a solid Naas defence of Josh Glass, Johnny Dunne, David Fitzgerald, and Peter Kings. The half time score 2-0 to the visitors. In the second half Naas introduced Robbie Barrow to create more movement up front, and he soon made an impact. He passed to Jamie Coyle, who fired into the circle for Dutch Striker Justin Smal to score with a spectacular diving deflection. Bray finally got going and should have scored a goal but Charlie Kings made a fine save to deny the home side any chance of a goal. With 3 minutes left Tony Falvey fired the ball into the circle and Jamie Coyle scored his first goal for Naas with a superb touch. The final score: 4-0 to the visitors. Best For Naas: Jamie Coyle, Tony Falvey, Charlie Kings. Next Weekend Naas finish their long and hard fought season with an away trip to Navan on Sunday at The Convent Of Mercy.

Leinster Hockey Division.7
Naas are still in search of their first win in 2009 after they were beaten 4-1 by Railway Union last Saturday in Park Avenue. Naas started the better with Tony Falvey and Shane White showing some good early touches. But it was Railway Union who broke the deadlock after 10 minutes when a free was struck dangerously into the box and the Railway forward touched past goalkeeper Charlie Kings. Naas went in search of an equalizer and won 3 short corners after some good link up play between Shane White and Marcus Blake. Naas were unfortunate not to equalise from the 3rd short corner when a well worked move led to Peter Kings shot being saved on the line by a defender.
